West Coast Swing Utrecht
We are a group of international dancers and a professional teacher with a shared passion for West Coast Swing dancing. Our goal is to build a community in the Utrecht area that is just as excited about this wonderful world of music, dancing and creativity as we are. In our classes, training and events we inspire each other to become the best dancers we can and want to be. As we run on volunteers, we’re always on the lookout for new enthousiastic people to join our amazing team. If you want to help growing the West Coast Swing community in Utrecht come talk to us or contact us via social media or e-mail. We love to hear your ideas!
I started dancing West Coast Swing in the spring of 2016. What I love about this dance is that both the leader and the follower have creative freedom and that you can dance West Coast Swing to many different styles of music. Having fun with your dance partner and creating a unique dance, even when you dance with a partner with more or less experience. In 2019 I discovered the Swing Literacy Development Method of Canadian champions Myles Monroe and Tessa Cunningham. I followed both their dancer training and teacher training and have been certified as a teacher in this method since August 2020. What I like about this method is that it prioritizes skills over patterns and footwork to make learning easier and faster. This gives students a solid foundation in a fun and fast way from which they can develop further. In my classes I focus on learning you how to create your own dance, not how to dance endless patterns. I am passionate about helping my students reach their dance goals. I have a background in gymnastics and ballroom dancing. To stay fit and to work on strength, endurance and flexibility, I Poledance and I regularly go for a run.
